A green sea turtle appeared to be stranded on the beach at Beauty Cave in Liuqiu Township, Pingtung, at noon on the 5th. After personnel from the 海巡署南部分署琉球新安檢所 and inspectors from the 海洋保育署 arrived, attempts to release it at the site were unsuccessful. The juvenile turtle was transferred to the 國立海洋生物博物館 that evening for observation and treatment. Experts said the turtle had no external injuries to its limbs but was weak and thin. It would first be observed in a tank with a low water level to see whether it could dive and surface to breathe on its own. The public was reminded not to approach it to avoid causing further harm.
