Instant noodle seasoning packet: add it before or after? Japanese major maker reveals the right answer: smoother noodles and more layered broth; many people get it wrong
Published ・ Source Taiwan | 風傳媒
Japanese instant noodle giant 日清食品 says the order in which seasoning packets are added affects the texture: powder packets can go in first, while liquid packets should be added later to keep the noodles from becoming firm. The outlet Pinzuba tested the method and confirmed that noodles taste better when the liquid packet is added later.
Facts
Powder seasoning packets can generally be added first
It's best to wait until the noodles have softened before adding liquid seasoning packets
If liquid seasoning is added at the beginning, the oil and thickening ingredients in the broth can cling to the surface of the noodles, making them harder to soften
Noodles made with seasoning added later separate more easily and have a smoother texture
Broth made with seasoning added first tastes saltier and more overpowering, while the version with seasoning added later is richer and more savory

How often should motorcycle tires be replaced? It’s not about mileage! A shop owner reveals the right answer to “extend their life without damaging the vehicle”
Published ・ Source Taiwan | 風傳媒
This article examines when to replace motorcycle tires in Taiwan, noting that the decision should not be based solely on mileage but should take into account tread depth, cracks and riding feel, as well as the relevant regulations and penalties.
Facts
Tire tread depth must be checked when applying for a motorcycle license plate, transferring ownership of a motorcycle that is at least 5 years old for an inspection, or taking a heavy motorcycle for its scheduled inspection.
If a vehicle fails its scheduled inspection and does not pass a reinspection within 1 month, it will be subject to a fine of NT$900 to NT$1,800 and its license plate will be suspended under the law.
Under current regulations, motorcycle tire tread depth must be at least 0.8 mm at inspection.
Most motorcycle tires have raised tread wear indicator points (TWI) inside their grooves. When the tread wears down to the level of these indicators, it means the tread depth is critically low.
Generally, motorcycle tires are replaced every 8,000 to 15,000 kilometers on average.

Hsu Chien-hung column: New York Chinese Americans’ left-wing story through the Museum of Chinese in America
Published ・ Source Taiwan | 風傳媒
This article examines the history presented at the Museum of Chinese in America in New York and explores the complex relationship between left-wing groups that supported the Chinese Communist Party and traditional Chinese community organizations. It focuses on the leftward shift among working-class laundry workers and the background to community leaders such as Sze Mei-tang sympathizing with the Chinese Communist Party amid factional struggles.
Facts
The Museum of Chinese in America in New York covers Chinese people without U.S. citizenship and places particular emphasis on the history of Chinese left-wing groups and the labor movement.

New York has about 3,500 Chinese-owned laundries. These small businesses could not afford large-scale laundry equipment.
The Chinese Hand Laundry Alliance founded the pro-Yan’an Chinese-language newspaper The Chinese American Daily in 1940.
Lee Hee-ling was a key figure in the founding of New York’s On Leong Tong and had close ties to Tammany Hall, the Democratic Party machine that governed New York.
Sze Mei-tang broke with the Kuomintang because he resented Chiang Kai-shek’s handing of power to people from Zhejiang, not simply because of socialist ideology.
The claim that President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Sze Mei-tang worked together is considered baseless because they belonged to different factions of the Democratic Party.
