A Chinese restaurant in South Korea named after Chinese President “Xi Jinping” was vandalized with spray paint by Chinese nationals. Police identified 4 suspects, who have left the country and returned to China; 3 are subject to Interpol Red Notices. After years of harassment and this incident, the owner decided to remove the name it had used for 8 years and reopen under a new name.

At around 2:40 a.m. on September 24, 4 men allegedly broke into and vandalized a Chinese restaurant in Bundang District, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, by spraying paint.
The 4 Chinese nationals implicated in the case left the country and returned to China on the day of the incident.
The restaurant had used “Xi Jinping” as its name for 8 years.
3 of the 4 suspects have been issued Interpol Red Notices.
Since July and August of last year, the owner had received a series of protest calls demanding a name change, sometimes as many as 30 to 40 calls a day.
The restaurant has changed its name and resumed business on September 29.
The men implicated in the case entered the country earlier in separate groups on tourist visas and stayed at motels in Seoul.
