The previous Taiwan men's 1500m national record was also held by Jian Zih-jie at 3:41.88. Today, he not only broke the record but also pushed the time under 3:40.

After the race, Jian Zih-jie did not know his time until being informed. He then said, "I don't really care about breaking the national record." He emphasized that he used a new racing strategy today, following other runners and adapting to the situation.

He stressed that his first Asian Games experience was fantastic, especially since it was held in Japan, a country he is familiar with. "Training with top Asian athletes for a month before the Games was also a great gain," he said.
