Hsu Fu, the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) candidate challenging Taipei City Council District 3 (Songshan, Xinyi) and former party secretary-general, officially launched his campaign headquarters today. The event was attended by TPP Chairperson Huang Kuo-chang, KMT legislator Wang Hung-wei, Pegatron Chairman Tung Tzu-hsien, and former National Taiwan University President Kuan Chung-min, all of whom voiced their support. Kuan Chung-min urged that Hsu must become the 'spine of the citizens' and the 'spine of the city council'.

Kuan Chung-min noted that Hsu Fu comes from a media background, where journalists act as third-party observers scrutinizing city affairs. 'But actually participating in municipal affairs is another matter entirely,' he said. While writing commentary is easier, Hsu chose to put down his pen and walk into neighborhoods, listen to citizens, and engage directly in politics.

Kuan emphasized that many municipal issues are not black-and-white but require nuanced understanding and careful handling. Therefore, young people who choose this path must be driven by ideals and passion. He pointed out that there are easier paths for passionate, idealistic youth entering politics—joining one of the two major parties, either the powerful ruling party with significant benefits or the other long-established large party. Entering either would make the political journey smoother. Yet Hsu chose the third path, stepping into the third force. Hsu understands that society needs a third voice, not one held hostage by the two major parties. 'He knows that citizens need more voices and strength standing with them,' Kuan said.

Kuan called for more young voices in society, emphasizing that only youth can bring change—and change is exactly what society needs. Hsu possesses not only passion and ideals but also courage. Society needs such individuals to bring transformation to the Songshan-Xinyi district and to the Taipei City Government. At TPP events, it's mostly young people who gather, filled with laughter, enthusiasm, and applause. 'I believe this is the kind of strength that Songshan-Xinyi and Taipei City need,' he said.

Kuan reminded Hsu that he must become the 'spine of the citizens' and the 'spine of the city council'—resisting temptation from special interests, fighting for the greatest benefit of citizens, and striving harder for the progress of the Songshan-Xinyi district.
