According to reports from CNA (Central News Agency), continuous rainfall from Typhoon Bavi has left mountainous areas in Hsinchu County with hazardous road conditions. On the afternoon of the 13th, a 21-year-old woman surnamed Cheng was riding her motorcycle back to her home in Zhudong from a camping trip in Wufeng Township when she lost control and fell into a roadside drainage facility along County Road 112.The Hsinchu County Fire Department responded immediately after receiving the emergency call. Upon arrival, they found that three companions traveling with the woman had managed to pull her out of the ditch. Firefighters then took over and administered emergency first aid before transporting her to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.Authorities reported that due to the typhoon, roads in mountainous regions remained treacherous, with large volumes of muddy water mixed with debris flowing onto roadways—particularly along Route 112. Drainage systems and slopes continued to discharge significant amounts of mud and water, increasing the risk of accidents.The fire department emphasized that recent heavy rains have made roads extremely slippery and that water flow in drainage ditches and streams has become unpredictable. They urged the public to remain cautious when returning from outdoor activities such as camping or hiking, and to avoid flooded areas, river crossings, and slippery terrain.The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation by local police.
