(CNA reporter Wu Min-jung, Kinmen, August 13) Typhoon Bavi disrupted Kinmen County's external transportation, but sea and air services resumed yesterday. Today, a large number of travelers still waited for standby flights back to Taiwan, with over 300 passengers successfully rebooked by 8 p.m.

Typhoon Bavi affected Kinmen's external transport on August 10 and 11. Regular flights between Kinmen and Taiwan resumed yesterday, and the 'Mini Three Links' passenger ferry service between Kinmen and Xiamen, China, resumed operations after noon. A large number of transit passengers returning to Taiwan via Kinmen flooded the airport, overwhelming scheduled flights. By last night, over 400 passengers remained at Kinmen Airport awaiting standby boarding.

This morning, Kinmen Airport conducted a new count of standby passengers: 134 bound for Taipei, 105 for Taichung, and 162 for Kaohsiung.

Around noon, Kinmen Airport announced military aircraft would assist in passenger evacuation. However, in an afternoon Facebook update, the airport stated that due to poor weather in Pingtung, military aircraft could not take off, leading to the cancellation of today's military-chartered flights from Kinmen to Taiwan.

According to the latest standby data from Kinmen Airport, as of 8 p.m., 333 passengers had successfully secured standby seats on return flights to Taiwan, with dozens still waiting at the scene. (Editor: Li Shu-hua) 1150713
