Central News Agency(Central News Agency reporter Hao Xueqing, Taichung, June 25) In response to the potential heavy rainfall from the outer circumference of the typhoon and the strengthening of the southwest monsoon, the Taichung City Water Resources Bureau stated today that flood control preparations have been fully completed, and they continue to monitor rainfall and water levels in various districts, with 20,000 sandbags and 448 waterproof boards prepared as flood control materials.Affected by the southwest monsoon drawn by the outer circumference of Typhoon Mikla and the frontal system, the Central Weather Administration predicts a chance of heavy rainfall from today to tomorrow morning. The Taichung City Government Water Resources Bureau has completed comprehensive flood control preparations, continuously monitoring rainfall and water levels in various districts to grasp any waterlogging situations, and dispatching rescue and disaster relief personnel as needed. Citizens are also reminded to remain vigilant and stay updated on the latest weather information. The Water Resources Bureau stated that the five major pumping stations under its jurisdiction, including Zhongxing, Wuzhangli, Houxidi, Chelengpi, and Rihua, have all completed flood control preparations. The pumping units, power generation equipment, and auxiliary facilities have been tested and are operating normally. Personnel are stationed around the clock and can be deployed for pumping operations at any time.Regarding flood control material preparation, the Water Resources Bureau pointed out that the city government has prepared 20,000 sandbags, 448 waterproof boards, and various other flood control materials. It has also established over 1,000 water monitoring equipment, including road waterlogging sensors, water level stations, and CCTV surveillance systems, to instantly grasp rainfall, water levels, and road waterlogging conditions in various locations, thereby enhancing disaster assessment and response efficiency. The Water Resources Bureau emphasized that AI human detection technology has been implemented at the Liuchuan Riverside Park. When the water level reaches the warning level, the system will automatically send an alert message to remind people around the flood channel to evacuate early and reduce the risk of wading. At the same time, it will continue to closely monitor rainfall and water level changes and adjust flood control response measures dynamically based on actual rainfall conditions to fully protect the safety of citizens' lives and property. The Water Resources Bureau urges the public to be aware of lightning strikes, strong gusts, and short-duration heavy rainfall when going out during heavy rain. When passing through waterlogged roads, slow down and do not risk wading. Low-lying areas should take preventive measures against flooding in advance. Mountainous areas are prone to rockfalls, landslides, and flash floods, so avoid activities in mountainous areas, rivers, and streams. Additionally, while the rain subsides, clear the drainage holes and side ditches around your home to prevent blockage by fallen leaves and debris.
