Central News AgencyPenghu, Taiwan (CNA) - The Ministry of National Defense's "Immediate Readiness Exercise" joint operational drill was simultaneously conducted by the First Theater Command in important defense areas of Penghu, including Ceti Island, coastal areas, and port areas. The exercise tested the troops' night mobility, command and control, and inter-unit coordination capabilities, enhancing the overall defense operational effectiveness of the area.The Penghu Defense Command announced today that during the "Immediate Readiness Exercise" joint operational drill, the exercise simulated a scenario where the Ceti Island was undergoing loading and unloading operations while facing enemy threats in the surrounding area. Upon receiving the order, the armored cavalry quickly completed force readiness and mobility deployment, and conducted a mission briefing with the communications team to coordinate on intelligence sharing, communication mechanisms, and force utilization, ensuring the smooth execution of all defense missions.During the exercise, M60A3 tanks, CM21 armored vehicles, and various types of wheeled vehicles stationed in Penghu formed mobile forces that advanced to tactical positions according to mission requirements, carrying out alert and defense missions around ports, important facilities, and ammunition depots. Through force deployment and firepower allocation, a dense defense network was established to prevent enemy infiltration and harassment, demonstrating the troops' ability to rapidly transition between peace and wartime states and their response capabilities.The First Theater Command stated that this exercise was conducted through scenario induction, simulating a real combat environment to train all levels of troops in night operations and coordinated support capabilities. It verified the defense mechanisms and response measures for important military targets, continuously improving combat readiness efforts to ensure the security of the area and the execution of combat missions.The Penghu Defense Command stated that the 5-day, 4-night "Immediate Readiness Exercise" runs from the 22nd to the 26th. Troops can be seen stationed in various forest areas, coastal areas, and port areas throughout Penghu Island, conducting combat readiness preparations to respond to possible emergencies, building the necessary speed for the transition between peace and wartime, and verifying the troops' joint operational effectiveness.
