Shopify Japan Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Country Manager: Michio Baba; hereinafter referred to as Shopify Japan), the Japanese subsidiary of global commerce leader Shopify, announced that E-Osis Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka; President: Kozyun Wu; hereinafter referred to as E-Osis), a company specializing in the re-commerce of used digital devices such as smartphones, tablets, and computers, has adopted Shopify's commerce platform for enterprises as part of its e-commerce platform overhaul.E-Osis is one of Japan's leading specialized retailers, boasting annual sales of 18.9 billion yen for the fiscal year ending March 2026. For over 30 years, they have sold used digital devices, including smartphones, tablets, and computers, through their e-commerce site and physical stores nationwide. The sale of used digital devices requires more complex operations than general e-commerce, as the condition, specifications, price, and inventory differ for each product. Businesses need to accurately manage inventory information and provide clear, reliable product details so that customers can make informed purchasing decisions before buying.Previously, E-Osis operated a custom-built e-commerce system maintained by a small in-house development team. However, this setup hindered sufficient integration of internal data and required significant cost and time for UI/UX improvements, posing challenges in quickly responding to new marketing initiatives and evolving business needs.Against this backdrop, E-Osis decided to migrate its existing e-commerce environment to Shopify to build a more sustainable and scalable operational structure that accommodates the company's unique business requirements. With the implementation of Shopify, E-Osis aims to further enhance the customer experience through improvements in product search functionality, expansion of payment options, and increased convenience in the checkout process. As part of its medium- to long-term e-commerce strategy, they are also considering new features, such as an AI-powered concierge-style chat service, to help customers more easily find suitable products and purchase with confidence.Regarding this announcement, Kozyun Wu, President of E-Osis, stated:"We decided to adopt Shopify based on its extensive global implementation track record, its broad ecosystem of partners and apps, and its flexibility and scalability to adapt to the ever-changing commerce landscape. Many of the functions we previously developed and maintained in-house, such as data integration and UI/UX improvements, can be utilized as apps on Shopify, which is expected to reduce development man-hours by approximately 70%. We anticipate this will significantly reduce the burden of maintenance and operations, allowing us to allocate more resources to improving customer experience and implementing new growth strategies."Michio Baba, Country Manager of Shopify Japan, commented:"We are delighted that E-Osis has chosen Shopify as its e-commerce platform. In the re-commerce business, accurate product information and a purchasing experience that makes it easy for customers to find the products they want are essential, given the varying conditions, specifications, and inventory of each item. As AI transforms how consumers discover and purchase products, businesses require more flexible and scalable commerce platforms. Shopify will support E-Osis in enhancing its customer experience and adapting to these changes."■About ShopifyShopify provides the essential internet infrastructure for commerce.
