AOAO SAPPORO, an aquarium located in the city of Sapporo (Location: Chuo-ku, Sapporo City, Hokkaido; Director: Masaki Yamauchi), will launch three new exhibits starting July 24, 2026 (Fri), marking a "Grand Evolution" for AOAO SAPPORO with expanded play and learning opportunities.[From left: Kamuy saurus 1/5 scale model, Red lionfish, Sun conure, WONDER SHEET image]AOAO SAPPORO, which will celebrate its 3rd anniversary on July 20, 2026 (Mon, holiday), is launching three new exhibits themed around a "Grand Evolution."Grand Evolution 1: "Northern Spotted Salamander Growth Observation Tank" to observe the process and state of growth.Grand Evolution 2: "CO-WORKING AQUARIUM: Room for Co-creation and Play" to learn about fish life through fin diversity.Grand Evolution 3: "GREEN ROOM: Room of Birds, Lizards, and Dinosaurs" to experience the evolution of dinosaurs into birds.These new exhibits are based on AOAO SAPPORO's exhibition concept, "Wonder of Life: Seeing the Unseen," and interpret the trajectory of life's evolution from the aquarium's unique perspective.In addition, to commemorate the 3rd anniversary, evolved learning tools for children and special menu items will be introduced.A new learning book for children, "WONDER SHEET," will be released, allowing them to learn about the secrets of AOAO SAPPORO, such as its water and creatures, in a fun quiz format. In 2026, egg sacs of the amphibian "Northern Spotted Salamander," collected by a curator from the Shibecha Town Museum "Nitai-to," have been on display at AOAO SAPPORO's 4F "LABORATORY" since May.
