NEXTES Inc. (Head Office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Masao Inoue; hereinafter "NEXTES") has completed conformity assessment tests based on the world's first international safety standard "IEC 62933-5-2," led by Japan, and has introduced a 13ft water-cooled grid-connected battery storage system, which has obtained a safety evaluation from a third-party evaluation body, into Japan. This is the first domestic introduction case for our product after obtaining third-party safety evaluation.■ Advancement of Energy Storage Infrastructure Required in the Japanese Domestic EnvironmentWith the expansion of renewable energy adoption, the importance of grid-connected battery storage systems, which are responsible for adjusting electricity supply and demand, is increasing. On the other hand, installation conditions and operational requirements are stringent in Japan, and objective and highly reliable evaluations are demanded for safety. Against this backdrop, expectations are growing for battery storage systems whose safety has been confirmed based on international evaluation standards. This introduction marks the first instance where a battery storage system designed and verified based on international safety evaluations will be operated as an actual energy infrastructure.■ OverviewInstallation Location: Mashiki Town, Kamimashiki District, Kumamoto PrefectureRated Storage Capacity: 8,332 kWhOperator: AD WORKS Co., Ltd.This facility has been introduced as a battery storage facility by the operator, and NEXTES is responsible for providing the battery storage system.■ Product FeaturesThis product is a 13ft container-type grid-connected battery storage system employing a water-cooling method. It has completed conformity assessment tests based on the international safety standard "IEC 62933-5-2" and has obtained a safety evaluation from a third-party evaluation body.Furthermore, through proprietary technology, it achieves long lifespan and low-cost operation. In addition, its high-efficiency temperature control through water cooling and compact container design allow for flexible adaptation to domestic installation conditions.■ About the International Safety Standard "IEC 62933-5-2"IEC 62933-5-2 is an international standard for the safety of stationary large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). It comprehensively evaluates aspects such as fire safety, electrical protection, and system redundancy, covering the entire lifecycle from design to end-of-life.Japan has played a leading role in the development of this standard, contributing to the establishment of safety evaluation environments and the promotion of battery storage systems both domestically and internationally. Systems evaluated under this standard contribute to the expansion of renewable energy adoption as reliable energy infrastructure.■ Future ProspectsThrough this domestic introduction, NEXTES will promote the deployment of battery storage systems evaluated under the international safety standard "IEC 62933-5-2," contributing to the improvement of safety and reliability in the energy storage infrastructure market. We will continue to accelerate the deployment of grid-connected battery storage systems as energy infrastructure for the popularization of renewable energy and the stabilization of electricity supply and demand.【Company Profile】Company Name: NEXTES Inc.
