Chardonnay grapes in July. Following 2024, 2025 had a warm spring, and grape budding began earlier than usual. However, significant temperature fluctuations in early spring led to variations in budding times among different varieties. Frost damage occurred in some areas but did not have a major impact on yield. The 2025 vintage was characterized by record low rainfall and high temperatures. Precipitation was below average in all months except May, with August being particularly dry, receiving only 50-70mm of rain, less than half the average. Temperatures were also about 2°C above average, resulting in a very hot and dry climate, which accelerated grape maturation overall. The harvest began on September 3rd with Pinot Noir in the Higashiyama district and concluded on October 22nd with Muscat Bailey A in the Komoro district, about two weeks earlier than usual. Although some vineyards experienced reduced yields, the harvested fruit was generally of high quality, with an excellent balance of sugar and acidity. The vintage has a distinct 2025 character, combining concentration with clarity. Wine Data. On sale from May 18th. Solaris Chikuma River Shinano Riesling 2025. Variety: Shinano Riesling.
