SEKAI HOTEL Osaka Fuse, a "whole shopping street hotel" operated by Kujira Inc., has released an article featuring writer Yoppy, who was born and raised in Fukae, Higashinari Ward, Osaka City, as part of its special project "People Who Visited Fuse" to commemorate surpassing 10,000 annual guests. For Yoppy, Fuse is a place of memories from his childhood and youth. His first part-time job, time spent at arcades, and nights spent drinking with friends brought from Tokyo. Fuse is not a typical tourist destination. However, Yoppy has long recognized the value of the "un-touristy everyday life" that remains in this town. In this project, Yoppy visits SEKAI HOTEL Osaka Fuse and walks through the town of Fuse again, discussing his memories of Fuse known only to locals and the current Fuse, which is gradually becoming a place for people from outside to visit. The town that was said to have "nothing" actually has "everything." Fuse is about a 10-minute train ride from Namba, Osaka, on the Kintetsu Line. It has shopping streets, public baths, coffee shop breakfasts, traditional restaurants, and the lingering presence of people living their lives. On the other hand, there are no flashy tourist attractions. Because of this, locals themselves sometimes say, "There's nothing in Fuse." However, what SEKAI HOTEL Osaka Fuse has delivered is the re-examination of this "nothingness" of everyday life as a travel experience. The hotel's front desk is in the shopping street. Guest rooms are scattered throughout the town, the public bath is a local sento (public bathhouse), and breakfast is at a nearby coffee shop. Instead of being confined to a single building, guests walk through the town, meet shopkeepers, and experience the everyday life of Fuse. SEKAI HOTEL Osaka Fuse opened in 2018 as such a "whole town hotel." Yoppy's perception of SEKAI HOTEL's potential Yoppy has been one of those who paid attention to SEKAI HOTEL Osaka Fuse since its opening. He has promoted the charm of Fuse in
